My end is a legend
Julie Grosche – Florian Sumi
My end is a legend is the first phase of a collaborative work between Julie Grosche and Florian Sumi. It consists of a representation of two objects – a lightning rod and a microchip – each representing a potential technological future.
They exist only through the presence of other objects with which they nourish a relationship. These other “relational” objects, considered as guides to access the chosen objects, become witnesses to the realities of the lightning rod and the microchip.
From a data center the artists collected a series of data images, analytic data and sound data corresponding to the two chosen objects. These collected images appear interwind in a silent video. Performing next to the video is an actor, a “modern shepherd”, playing the sound from the data collection.
The artists attempt to come close to an object’s reality, a reality inaccessible from our limited human point of view.
By the object’s relation to its secondary qualities, to other revelatory objects, and by the limit of our knowledge catalogued in data, the artists draft a visualization of the world by interconnection.
