David Casini :: Laura Porter :: Florian Sumi
from July 10th to September 12th 2015
New Babylon is the name of a city conceived by Constant Anton Nieuwenhuys, a town planning developped in between 1956 and 1974, considered as a social utopia and based on its inhabitants’ mobility, their appeal to playing games and their creativity.
In response to this historical project, David Casini, Laura Porter and Florian Sumi, in the continuity of their own respective practices, explore at the gallery their vision of a present being transformed, giving it the shape of a chimeric environment. The idea of a new urbanity floats over the exhibition, intertwining the past, the present and the possibility of a new world.
