From April 18th to May 16th, 2015, the gallery presents the second edition of the exhibition “Distances”, an exchange project with Paris (FR) and Prato (IT) between artists and curators that consists in two residencies, two exhibitions and one publication.

After a first phase consisting in a long-distance dialogue, via a correspondence based on the exchange of images, texts and impressions between all participants, it was then possible to extrapolate a common tendency consisting in questioning the notion of distance, not only as the inherent condition of the project, but also as a more general question raised by all the exchanged documents. Distance is therefore presented on various levels. It is, in that way, at the very core of an encounter between artists of different cultures, finding itself in the gap there is between two territories, one French, the other Italian, and in the very concept the participants call into question. The distances paradoxically end up bonding together in order to build the cartography of an exhibition overtaking the existing borders.

The first residency and the first edition of the exhibition “Distances” is currently presented in LATO, Prato (IT) until May 2nd, 2015. These have been made possible thanks to a partnership with the city of Prato, in collaboration with the French Institute of Florence, Interno 8 – Artforms (Prato), LATO (Prato), Galerie See studio (Paris), Laboratoire DERIVA (Paris) and PMG Italia (Florence).
