Hendrik Hegray, bahn, 2017

Hendrik Hegray was born in 1981 in Limoges. He lives and works in Paris.

His artistic practice includes a variety of mediums such as drawing, music, performance, photography, video and sculpture.
Fond of the graphic design and underground drawing related movements established at the end of the 90′s, he published numerous confidential fanzines, involving himself in the self-publishing field. He also released books with publishers Nieves and Orbe, and works occasionally with Julien Carreyn or Héléna Villovitch. With Jonas Delaborde, he created Nazi Knife magazine in 2006 (Paraguay Publishing recently released the 10th issue) and False Flag in 2010, in which they invite artists such as Julien Carreyn, CF, Dewar and Giquel, Cameron Jamie, Lee Scratch Perry, Antoine Marquis, Terry Johnson, Lili Reynaud-Dewar, David Douard, Tonetta, Andrés Ramirez, among others. These publications extend far beyond the strict framework of drawing, to approach and explore the potential of photography, sculpture or collage. These practices converge in the work of Hendrik Hegray, alongside research in music and performance as the sonic reflection of his visual experiments1.
In 2000 and 2003, Hendrik Hegray presented his work at the bookshop-gallery Un Regard Moderne (Paris), and in 2005 and 2008 at France Fiction Gallery (Paris). In 2012, he was in residence at Atelier des Arques, where he took part in the collective exhibition “The Magic Porridge Pot”, curated by Daniel Dewar. The same year he had two solo exhibitions “ Fine Young Cannibals “, at L’Espace d’en Bas Gallery (Paris) and “Solo Exhibition“ at Hectoliter Gallery (Brussels).
