Florian Sumi (b.1984, Dijon, France) studied at the Beaux Arts in Dijon under the direction of Marc Camille Chaimowicz and lives and works in Paris. He attended a residency in Park Saint Léger between 2012 and 2013. His recent exhibitions include PMgalerie, Berlin, Germany; Favorite Goods, Los Angeles, CA; LeCube, Issy Les Moulineaux, France; Reference Gallery, Richmond, VA; MiddleMarch, Bruxelles, Belgium; Galerie Machete, Mexico City, Mexico; Galerie Escougnou-Cetraro, Paris, France, by whom he is represented and where he will present his personal exhibition in October 2016.
Florian Sumi develops a vision of the world through the prism of the object and its uses. Each object creates a narrative and becomes part of History, containing the memory of a time and a world. By evoking, representing or inventing his objects, he reveals the complex and invisible structures acting on our perception of the world.
